Well it all looked like starting so well when Linda injured her foot so she doesn't have to camp out in a field and Dave had to stay at home to do the chores and stuff. No seriously get well soon, we missed you and Dave.
The whilst trying to keep up with Lightening Geof Carlton-Smith high speed threw Nifty's well appointed machine into the air, and coming in to land on one of Lincolnshires finest roads he met a burmp which shifted his engine and generally made quite a mess.
Everything seemed to be OK until we stopped at the Co-op filling station in Gainsborough. Then all was apparent, damaged new bodywork, and a moved engine, plus most of Niftys oil dumped on the floor. Geof was able to help there because he had just been practising his forecourt duties by building sand pies on another motorists petrol spillage. Shame he hadn't packed his bucket and spade, he'll probably bring them to Scotland though.
So it was home for an early bath for Nifty, and an extra passenger for me.
We pressed on getting hungry now but Geof insisted in pulling into pubs that didn't serve food or were not open. So we eventually stopped for a Big Mac and thick shake about a mile away from our destination.
Well done Jo who was navigating. As Geof is used to ignoring Lois's instructions he found things a bit tough going.
We pitched camp straight away which meant time for the blat over Snake pass!
Marc enjoyed himself so much he made me go wrong just so we could do the route twice. Apart from one or two moments, one with a yellow car Megane things went pretty well. He was certainly pleased he had made such a good job of my brakes!!!!!
Back in time for another burger and to make a start on the barrels of good Yorkshire ale provided for the helpers.
**Late breaking news**
Kelham Island Brewery of Sheffield won a prize for the best beer in Britain at the Great British Beer Festival at Londons Olympia**
We can confirm it was very good stuff.
This time it was Geof bringing his own alchohol which of course we felt duty bound to help him with.
Sleep was not difficult even though I had forgotten to pack my air bed.
A 7.00am start found Steve and Geof in their Caterham jim jams discussing the finer points of sevening and watching Steve's sausage and beans bubble, mmmmmm.
At 9.30 its instructions and allocation of work for the show. Car parking, burger frying and so on. We got on the early shift so we could get away only to be trapped in until the show finished.
Some people were able to shower and shave and some able to clean their teeth but as usual not everyone was able to do everything. So there were some smelly, stubbly and fur toothed bunnies returning home during the evening.
Not stops at pubs without food on the way home but straight into Mac D's for the final burger of the weekend.
Home at about 10.00pm with about 500 miles of very enjoyable sevening behind us. A real warm up for Scotland!!!!!
