Yet again the bold Seveners from Carrotland invaded France during the Easter weekend for some great driving, great food and drink, great company and a really great time.
The weekend started in Norwich for Dave and Linda at 5.45am. They called for Bob and Ann-Marie at 6.20am and we were on the road for 6.30am.
We were frozen.
A thaw out was called for by Brentwood and we stopped for a coffee and a fill of petrol at 9.15am.
We arrive at the ferry in good time at about 10.30am to join the inevitable queue.
Linda takes her kwells for the journey and it is noted that in older people they can cause memory loss, a likely story we think, just another senior moment more like, anyway we all promise not to say anything, woops, me and my big typewriter.
Keith is already texting us to let us know he is in Cities Europe and will meet us as we leave the terminal. We manage to miss him on a slip road and circumnavigate Calais (not on the route I may add).
We soon move on and take the coast road south stopping at Cap Gris Nez to see if old blighty was still there, and it was.
We take a coffee break at Boulogne and then press on for Fillievres and the Auberge du Vieux Moulin. Mileage 262
Saturday after breakfast we leave the village via the backway a superb climb through typical seven roads and head cross country on slippery roads from the early frost. Mileage 136.
Sunday we take a visit to the nearby race circuit Croix de Turnois and watch some motor cycle track day before moving on. Disater then strikes and Keiths head gasket blows. We had been seeing puffs of smoke/steam the day before but could not make out what it was, now we knew!
The "depanneuse" is called to remove his car for repair. Back to the hotel for dinner.
We then drive over to Crotoy on the coast which was very crowded.
Monday we stop off at St Omer for coffee in the town square and then move on to Cassal a hill top town typical of this area. The pictures tell the tale!
Dave is running on vapour by the time we stop and a kindly local uses his card bleu to get Daves petrol (he had to pay of course).
We get to the ferry at 2.45pm, just right.
We leave Dover at 5.00pm and arrive home at around 8.30pm after driving through torrential rain.
Daves recorded mileage 995.
