The Seven was designed by Colin Chapman as a replacement for the very successful, low volume Lotus 6 which was produced until 1956. It was launched at the 1957 Motor Show at Earl's Court alongside the beautiful Elite.
The car was designed to be a no compromise sports car that could be driven on the road and raced at weekends.
Even today, after nearly 50 years of development, the seven still thrives, now branded as a Caterham 7. It still continues to astound those who are fortunate enough to drive or own such a legend. Performance from even the most modest of spec cars is sufficient to overshadow any other sports car costing many thousands of pounds more.
